“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7, NIV)
Nav Encore . . . the name well reflects the heartbeat of this Mission. By definition, the word “encore” has to do with the audience demanding a repeat of a superb performance. The origin of the word has to do with “yet again,” or “from then to now.” Synonyms often used for “encore” are praise, repeat, continue, acclamation, press on until the end. It is the chant of an audience who is so fond of the performance that they do not want it to end.
Is this not how God views us? Is He not cheering us on to repeat again and again, for His glory, the ministry of which we have been called? Is He not, as are we, looking forward to telling us, “Well done, good and faithful servant! . . . Come and share your master's happiness!” (Matthew 25:23)? God is calling us to keep doing what He is so proud of. He is behind the curtains on the stage of life, cheering us on to be all we can be for Him.
It should be noted that an encore presentation often contains something new that the audience has not yet heard or seen. And it is often a performance that ends up being better than what was presented originally. Yes, God is calling us on to the biggest and best performance of our lives. In fact, is He not demanding us to bring on a command performance like no other?
Okay, Lord, here goes! We will not let You down. We will press on to finish the race. We will fight for the cause of Christ until our last breath, and through it all, we will be faithful to You, Lord, who first introduced us to His “stage” in the first place.
Isn’t that what Paul expressed to his young protégé Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:7? What passage could be more appropriate in summarizing who we are as a Mission? The 3 Fs that are part of our official logo define our resolve as we press on to serve Him wherever our God-directed relationships lead us.
